When I was a very young woman, I went to the Philippines as a welfare-services missionary. My activities focused on public health and education. Many years later, my mother suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease for 13 years before passing away. Reflecting on her struggles, my early missionary experiences, and the ways that I wanted to make a difference in the world, I changed my major from Communications to Social Work.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and received my Master of Social Work also from MSU-Denver, graduating Summa Cum Laude. My internships consisted of working with low-income seniors (many with mental health issues), being a court-appointed guardian for those with severe mental health conditions, and working in community health and hospice. I started practicing therapy as an associate therapist in 2019.
My Background …
I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of individuals, families, couples, adolescents, students, those with co-dependencies, senior citizens, and terminally ill patients and their families. My private practice is now a combination of tele-health and in-person sessions. I am licensed in Texas, but plan to expand my licensure base in the near future.
I work with the whole person: mind, body, soul, and spirit. I have done a great deal of traditional and religious spiritual study, as well as in-depth esoteric and metaphysical studies and trainings. I am also in the process of becoming trained and certified as a hypnotherapist and in EMDR to treat complex trauma. As an intuitive healer, I will challenge you to bring your core beliefs into alignment with your outward behaviors.
I am physically located in the Camp County area of northeast Texas. I love my work. I love what I do. I love being a light and guide for those who need guidance and inspiration.
Can't get to me? No problem. While I prefer in-person sessions, I am also able to provide online treatment. If you have a computer, tablet, iPad or smart phone, we will connect. Tele-health is an incredible tool to help many receive the treatment they desire. When doing tele-health sessions, I require clients to be in a private, undistracted location, and to keep their camera on throughout the session. Visual cues, such as body language and facial expressions, are a critical part of the therapeutic process.
Consultations are always free, so it’s worth moving forward.
A Note About Woke Culture
I understand that the latest trends and social justice demands can drive people to seek treatment. Here in this space, all ideas are welcomed; however, the foundation in which treatment begins is based on reality and truth. Feelings are fleeting, but actual facts and truth are impenetrable. Sessions are built from facts, and we explore how your feelings can exist within the frame work of our reality. If you have questions about this topic, let's discuss this in session.
About Intensive Trauma Work
It is my opinion and experience that even a licensed therapist should avoid engaging in intensive trauma work unless he/she has additional and specific training in trauma-therapy modalities. If you have experienced trauma, we will consider whether or not your level and type of trauma can be addressed within my skill set. I am currently in training as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, as well as for EMDR and Image Transformation Therapy (IMT). Those with Complex PTSD might be referred to another therapist until my additional training is complete.
Sometimes when seeking a therapist, it can be difficult trusting a complete stranger with your values and beliefs. In some cases, you don't know your values and may need help from a therapist in developing those pillars in your life. Seeking treatment can be one of the most scary and vulnerable things a person can do.
At times, it helps knowing a therapist's beliefs to help you feel more at ease with sharing. It removes a layer of anxiety at the onset. Because of this, I have listed for you a few of my beliefs that are prudent to today's culture.
Please note: if you do not agree or hold the same beliefs, it does not mean I won't accept you, work with you, or respect your beliefs. These are listed merely to help those individuals that have been harmed by other therapists for their beliefs, and/or are afraid that their therapist might unfairly judge them.
Always seek treatment from the person you feel connected to, and not just based off of a recommendation. My consultations are always free for this exact reason: to make sure you are comfortable with me and that I can help you.
